The excellence in the distribution of products of high quality is the first practice of Corporate Social Responsibility of OCAL, S.A.
We are affiliated to the American Chamber of Commerce (Amcham), to the Superior Council of the Private Company (Cosep), to the Spanish Chamber of Commerce (Cacoes), to the Chamber of Commerce of Nicaragua (Caconic) and to the Nicaraguan Union for the Corporate Social Responsibility (uniRSE).
The social responsibility of the company is a combination of legal, ethical, social and environmental aspects. It is a voluntary decision, not imposed “it goes beyond a philosophy of life or work, beyond a simple donation or established social program… it is the fact of behaving in a responsible way with all those that have relationship with the company: collaborators, shareholders, the same community, environment, suppliers and final consumers.
To give answer today to the society is also to communicate what the company makes and what is willing to make, being transparent in what we offer.
The Group CALSA and their affiliated companies for many decades have been boosters of what nowadays in the world is called Corporate Social Responsibility. The term can be relatively new but the concept that a company contributes to the development of its community it is a practice that from its principles the Group CALSA has come carrying out.
From its beginning Don Cesar Augusto Lacayo Lacayo, founder of the Group CALSA in 1937, transmitted his children the Christian values that from generation and generation have been spread in the affiliated companies to the group CALSA. His concept is part of the practices executed by the Group CALSA whose root is in its founder and descendants's Christian and family values.
These good practices have always been of our interest to apply in the companies of the group for the motivation that brings us to provide a better quality of life for our many collaborators in the company improving them their work conditions, concerned about their professional development, their feeding, their health, etc., but also promoting the commitment toward their family and their community.
In the Group CALSA is competency of the Managment personnel the sensibility and conscience of the implementation of programs on CSR in their area, in the company and in the collaborators community.
When selecting our suppliers we choose brands that share and execute our practices and policies on CSR so that our Nicaraguan families consummate highly responsible products.
Don Carlos Reynaldo Lacayo Lacayo, Group CALSA CEO, is president of the Nicaraguan Union for the Corporate Social Responsibility (uniRSE). He explains that the CSR is something very concrete: “it is expressed in the ethics, in the business and in the quality of the labor life in the companies. It is a commitment that have the companies with our collaborators, the community, environment, carrying out a responsible marketing... In sum we speak of the growing responsibility of the managerial sector, for the development of a country like our dear Nicaragua.”
The social responsibility goes beyond a philanthropic program, is a way to win for all the interacting parts. The fact of behaving in a responsible way toward all those that have relationship with the company will develop the trust, loyalty and the motivation of each one of them, these facts are translated in the creation of value through: bigger productivity, improvements in the retention of clients, reduction of legal problems, respect to the environment and in consequence to the community.
We believe that generating value for people will contribute to a better quality of life of the Nicaraguan family and a better contribution toward our business.
